Welcome Letter

On behalf of the village, Legbourne Parish Council would like to wish you a very warm welcome.  We are sure you will be very happy here, but to help you to feel settled and find your feet, below are a few things that we thought might be of interest.

The Parish Council meets bi-monthly at the Community Centre.  This is a public meeting, and should you wish to attend to raise any matters you are very welcome to do so. There is time allowed for this at the beginning of the meeting, but you can remain (as a non-participant) for the duration of the meeting should you wish.

The Community Centre Committee organises events throughout the year for the benefit and enjoyment of the village. Typically there is a friendship club that meets fortnightly, car boots, quiz nights, playgroup, and archery, there will be other exercise activities and events planned going forward. There is also a monthly village draw that everyone is welcome to join, with cash prizes to be won!

Village activities and Parish Council meetings are published in a monthly village newsletter, with details of relevant contacts.

Legbourne is a beautiful village with many lovely and well signposted country walks at the foot of the Lincolnshire Wolds. There is an ancient woodland, picturesque scenery, and a pretty brook that connects us to the neighbouring village of Little Cawthorpe. If you have a dog, your four legged friend will be very at home exploring here, though we wish to keep our village clean and tidy for the benefit of all so please bag all dog waste. The village has a number of litter bins and dedicated bins that can both be used for disposal.

Village amenities include:

  • East Wold CE Primary School
  • All Saints Church, with regular services held by Father James
  • A regular bus service into Louth and to Mablethorpe
  • A mobile post office, Mondays and Thursdays, open 14:15 - 15:15
  • A children’s play park outside the Community Centre

Also:

  • Legbourne Village Store, open 7 days a week
  • The Queens Head pub, serving drinks and home cooked meals
  • Red Hen Day Nursery  for pre-school children

Details for household refuse collections and recycling can be obtained through contact with East Lindsey District Council.  In addition to the comprehensive village newsletter, further information for the village is publicised via the parish notice board, and on the parish web site address: https://legbourne.parish.lincolnshire.gov.uk

Once again, with best wishes, a very warm welcome to Legbourne!
